Which is the First Commandment of All?

"Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like it:  You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'" - Matthew 22:37-39

I am still trying to learn how to love people well.  It's hard to do.  So often my selfishness gets in the way and I want to meet my needs before those of others.  If we truly love God with our all, this commandment should get easier.  We are able to love only because God loved us first.

I had a good day today.  My math classes went well, which is always a blessing.  So far all of my students are doing well to start the semester.  When I was not teaching, I was writing notes home in English and Spanish to let the house parents know what's coming up in the school.  We have a Spelling Bee coming up at the beginning of March for our 2nd through 6th graders.  We also have a spring break coming up in two weeks.  I think the teachers are as excited about that as the kids.  The first midterm progress reports go home the same week as spring break, so grades are coming due.  Finally, one of the high school classes, Socioeconomic Development, is having a baked goods sale on Friday to learn about overhead costs and sales.  In addition to cookies and brownies, they will also have traditional Honduran foods.  It should be fun!

Tomorrow we have a medical brigade coming for a tour of the ranch, followed by our usual soccer game with the kids.  After lunch I am headed to the city for my regular shopping day.
